RE: A 20-minute Progressive Rock song about Cupcakes
Stopped at around 16:00 because I was afraid of any spoilers, since this really makes me want to read Cupcakes. The song itself sounds really awesome, my favorite parts being 10:30ish and the buildup at 15:30ish. Will listen to the rest after reading...
EDIT: The song I think creeped me out more than the actual story did. The song was very well done!

RE: A 20-minute Progressive Rock song about Cupcakes
wow this song is getting around...
Anyway, in reply to the last person who commented, I actually HATE cupcakes. Thought (and still think) it's one of the silliest things ever written for anything. It wasn't even that scary, to be honest.
I wrote most of the song while bored at work, after having read the fanfic before going in, and I was trying to think of any possible way that what happened could have happened. I'm fascinated by psychology, and I was, in a way, trying to make sense of the story. I used that as the inspiration for a song for a contest I do every week called toastbeard, next thing I know I have a 20 minute song about pinkie on a downward spiral.
Week later, it's on Equestria Daily, and the next thing I know it's popping up on all corners of the web, and i'm over 10,000 listens and 1000 downloads o.o...to be honest, that surprises me. It's 20 minutes long, and it's partly inspired by a fanfic that's infamous across the web for bronies and non bronies alike, haha xD
Anyway, yeah. Hated cupcakes. Still do. The fanfic almost turned me off of the show. xD

Hey, don't get me wrong. I wasn't making fun of the song. I just hate that stupid fanfic

Best fan song I've heard. Especially "The Art of Distress" part. Haunting. I also love how Dash is the reason Pinkie falls. Adds another layer to it all. Basically, this song is how the fic should've been.

The fanfic is great for the shock value. Funny to see people freak out over a silly story.

I must say I really liked the song. I actually liked cupcakes, but I thought the fic was a little bit boring, needed some action, not just maim maim maim. But this song is just great, I love the blend of all the different themes to it.

Definitely going with the above poster. I didn't even think Cupcakes was scary (just gross), but this song gives me goosebumps, especially the parts "Hide the Body (Art of Distress)" and "Practice Makes Perfect (Crime)." I like how this song actually gives Pinkamena a source of motivation, rather than just having her kill for the sake of killing.

Tarby's doing a redux of this song.
It's not even finished and it sounds amazing already.
