I tried Doctor Whooves x Jack Harkness once. Never even finished my sketch because it was so bad...
I'm not interested in girls or OC or most crack pairings, so that kind of limits my opinions. I mean, even most BG ponies are practically OCs, because they have no canon personalities...other than the four I ship regularly, who else is there? Mr Cake? Donut Joe? Blueblood? I don't really like any of them...

I still feel bad for Tootsie Flute at the beginning of that episode. Not sure if she wanted to give her card to the chubby pony or to Twist, but either way, poor filly got her heart broken.

Not to get into too much ship-to-ship combat, but Big Mac doesn't have a "canon" orientation...the only time we've seen him attracted to anypony was under the influence of love poison. If you want to do fanart of that episode then fine, but under normal conditions he could be straight or bi or a transgendered lesbian, as far as "canon" is concerned...
Also, I don't see Sweetie Belle having a crush on Cheerilee, but it creeps me out whenever anyone ships fillies or colts or Spike with ANYONE (adult or child), so yeah...I'm definitely not a supporter of that.

It's nothing serious. Besides there's always a lot of love drama going on in kindergarden and first 3 years of school.
I've been engaged four times.
I always thought Spike's crush on Rarity is kind of cute until Secret of My Excess. Don't see how something like that could be creepy.
Althought I only ship fillies and colts recently, because season 2 is not that full of shipping material as season 1
I know I'm creepy, but shipping infected my brain and I can't control it anymore

I came across a rather odd pairing recently but one that looks like it could work. I saw a story on FIMFiction called: What Would Daring Do? It started out as the typical Rainbow Dash and Applejack shipfic, but then Spitfire got involved. She went out on a date with AJ and they both liked it and thus, the Applefire ship was created. I'm pretty sure it didn't exist before.
It also follow Daring Do since Dash is reading a new story with her in it. It pairs her up with the mare with no name. So an Indian Jones parody with a western parody.

Cheerilee's a lot higher energy than Big Mac. She's social, she's... uh... well, okay, we don't really know much at all about her. But they look to contrast in lifestyle.
Big Mac and Fluttershy, on the other hand, are both quiet, independent, have occupations involving tending to plants and animals, and appear uninterested in much beyond living a simple, day-to-day life. They contrast in Fluttershy's sensitivity/vulnerability against Big Mac's... uh... I'm at a loss for terms here.
Fun fact: Fluttermac is very nearly the closest I've come to liking a straight pairing in almost any fictional universe (canon or otherwise).
Though, all of that makes me uncomfortable, as it relies on a... not unreasonable, but neither explicitly verified assumption that Big Mac is a giant cliche.

Yes, I can understand how Mac and Fluttershy could be comfortable together...(if they swung that way)...but I can't see either one really challenging the other, so I don't think the relationship would really help either to grow as a person. Honestly, I'd like to see a fanfic that involves Spike and Rarity, but it finally brings about the issue that there's just too much of an age gap. It could involve Spike seeing Rarity with some colt, and he asks what's going on and she says that Spike has to face facts. There's nearly twenty years separating them and he can't expect her to wait that long. She admits that there could have been something if he was older but that's just not the case, it's only a what-could-have been. It would be a tragedy yes, but it could end with Spike finally getting over his crush on Rarity. That'd make a great episode, actually, though they'd never cover something so serious.

In fact I'd say that's what makes them perfect. Cheerilee is the outspoken one who always has a warm word and Big Mac is the strong silent type with a soft side.
Granted before CheeriMac/BigCheer came about I supported FlutterMac because of the whole timidity x tough guy thing.

Yeah I don't see a problem with the age difference in the long run...but shipping anypony with a baby dragon is just weird. It'd be fine if it were a fic set five or ten years down the line, where they remember how they met, and what they've done in the meantime.
OR, considering that they've shown that Spike can grow up and then go back to little kid age, they could just have Rarity show him how to grow up without becoming a big jerk in the process. That could work.

Hmm, you may have a point there. I always picture Rarity being the oldest of the group, but even then, he was hatched the day Rarity got her cutie mark, so the age gap would be around six to eight years like you said, ten at the most. Still, I think it'd be a good, emotional basis for a story, with Spike learning that sometimes you just need to get over someone.
